Over a family dinner in 2006 the idea of buying Christmas gifts for an underprivileged child at a local school was discussed. While helping one child was a step in the right direction I decided we could do more and started a campaign at work offering the opportunity for units to sponsor local children in need at Christmas. In our first year we collected brand new wrapped toys for 61 children. Last year in addition to collecting toys at work we started accepting donations online and were able to provide 115 children from 45 families at two different schools with toys at Christmas. This year our goal is to provide toys to children in need at a third school. 100% of the money collected is spent to buy gifts for under privileged children at Montreal area elementary schools. When at all possible gifts are also bought for siblings not old enough to attend school. The gifts are then included in Christmas baskets for the families and delivered directly to the children's homes shortly before Christmas. No donation is too big or too small.
